' Verdugo, betng informed hereof, refolved to efcape out of the King'dom, feariog to fall into the 'hands of Pifarro. Then he· fallied out into rhe Markec- place with twenty Souldiers whom he judged to be faichfull to him; he fommo- ned all people in the King's-name to come in , and feized on chofe wbo díd not readily obey , and then in hearing ofali bis prifoners, he rold them plainly , that his bufineís was to carry men and arrns to the Vice-king; for whicb fervice b~ had an ~cc_afion for rnoney, which they rnuíl: fpeedily pay him, in cafe tbey expefüd th~u· hberty ; and that every one íhould pay his proportion according to bis abili- ty ; . and if not, he was refolved to carry them away with him to the Vice-king.
