T HE Inca having fecured the Countrey of t:hayani,i w.lth a fufficient force and fupplied it with Officers requiíite for adminiílration borh of their reli- gious and civil Government. He proceeded forward ro other adjacent Provinces, amongft which Charca was of great Renown, cornprehending rnany different Na- tions and Languages under its Dominion ; ali which were in the DiviGon of Col- lefuyu : The chief or principal Countries of which were T utura; Sipifpo, Chaqui; to che Bifiward of which, and rowa.rds the Mountain Antu, are orber ·Pi:ovinces ca1- led Chamuru, wher~ grows grea¡ plenty of the Herb which tbey call Cuca, rbough ir be nor fo good as tbat which grows ·about Coz.ca. Thefe feveral Nations, who had already been infqrmed of ali the parriculars which had pafied in Chayanta, returned their anfwers much afrer rhe fame man- ner; rhe fubfiance of ali which was,. That ir was rheir great honour to have rhe knowledge of fo holy a Religion, as tbat which enjoined rhem to adore the Sun, and ro ferve the Inca, who was defcended frorn him ; and rhat they had rhe pri- vilege to be offered fuch good and wholfome Laws for their Governrnent : And therefore defiring his Majefiy to receive them under his po~ent Proteétion, rhey reíigned up their lives and fornm~s to his difpofal ; and in regard, rhat having re- ceived new Laws and fuperíl:itious Rites, differing from thoíe of their adjacent . Neighbours, they fiood in great danger of having their Apoílacy revenged by _them ; they therefore defüed, rhat tho(e people alfo might be reduced, and obli- ged to embrace the fame Laws, Religion and Worfhip with them.
