What happened in the night of.this Rebellion. Many Jnhahi- tants jly from the City. T HE day of the Nupcials being come, ali the Citizens and their Wives dreífed chemfelves in cheir befi Apparel to honour the Wedding: for on all fuch folemn occafions as this, either of Fefüvals, or days of mourning, ic was the cufiome arnongfi thefé Citizens to rejoice or condole togecher, as i.f chey had been all Brethren of a Family, becween whorn were no prívate grudges, animo- fities or faélions. Many of che Citizeos and their Wives dined and fupped at the Wedding, at which was prepared a folemn Banquet. After dinner an enter- tainment was rnade in che Street of thrbwing halls made with Earth by Horfe- men at each other (which is .a fport ufed in Spain.) I remember that I faw it from che top of a ílone Wall, over againít the boufe of Alonfo de Lcayfa: and I faw Francifco Hernandez.. fitting on a Chair in che Hall, wirh his Armes folded oo bis Breafi, and his Eyes looking downwards; in which pofiure he feerned more pen- five and thoughcfull than melancholy it felf. , lt is probable, that he was then con- triving what he was to ¡¡ét and execme that night; though that Auchour faich, that Francifco Plernandn had íhewed himfelf very rnerry and pleafant that day at the Wedding , and perhaps it was becaufe he was there prefent , rather than íhewed any g9od or pleafant humour. The Sporrs of •the City being over, and the Evening come , they fate chem- felves to Supper in a lower Hall , where at leafi fixcy were at che Table , for the Room was borh long and wide ; che Ladies fate togecher in an inw'ard Room, and from a little Yard, which was between thefe Apartrnents, they ferved the Meat unro both Tables.
