T HE return of Alón/o de Toro towards Co«o was f peedily made known to Die~ go Centerro by the intelligence which the Indians brought hirn ; at which he much admired ; and conceived that this fudden turn from his late purfuit and di- vifioo of his Forces into three pares muíl: necefiarily be caufed by fome extreme wam, defeét or inability arnongíl: bis people, in confidence whereof he detached ·fifty of bis beíl:',and ligbteíl: Horfe under the command of Captain Lope de Men- dofa, to purfue the Enemy, and cake up che íl:raglers, and fuch as rernainecl in che ·Rere.
