By which inrelligence, and many ocher things which che Soul- diers faid to him, che Vice-king being encouraged, refolved with che Forces he had with him, to march from ~itu by che way of Sr. M ichae!s, and made Diego de Ocampo chief Commander thereof, who ha9 from che very time that the Vice- king carne to Tumbe~ adhered to bis Party, and affiíl:ed him with his Perfon and Eíl:ace, fupplying him wich ali rhings convenient and neceílary for his fervice, wherein he fpent above forcy choufand pieces of Eight. In all chefe Advencures Lieenciado A/vare~ accompanied the Vice-king, and held Courts with him by vir- tue of his Majefiy's Commiffian, by which it was provided, that che Vice-king might hold Courts with che affiíl:ence of one Co-aífeílour untill fuch time as che other J udges íhould aífemble and joyn with them ; and ir was chus provided by chat claufe in cafes of mortality or other accidencs : and in purfuance hereof he caufed a new Sea! to be delivered to 'fohn Leon, one of che J uíl:ices of Los Reyes, whom the Marquis of Camarafa, Lord High Chancellour of Caforla, or of che Indie1, had nominaced and eleéted to be Chancellour of that Court wherein che Vice-king prefided, he being revolced to him from Pifarro; fo that ali Commiffions, War- rants and Orders iffued out from thence under che Name and Title of Don Car/01 the Emperour, with che Royal Sea! affixed to them, and counceyfigned by Alv11- re~ ; fo that now there bi;ing cwo Courrs in Peru, one at Los Reyes and che ocher with che Vice-king, it frequently happehed chat two different Oi:ders for che fame bufinefs cam; to be ferved at che fame time.
