And what did moreover confirm this Belief., were che Cannon and Mufquets which .the Spaniards ufed, and which che Indian1 took for proper Arms and Ammunition of rche Sun, giving chem the name of Y/lapa, which fignifies Thunder, and Lighcning, and Thunderbolcs. And to che Name o[ Viracocha, chey added che Ticle of Inca, as properly belonging to ch~m on fcore of che Relacion chey had ro che Sun rheit Facher, from whom they .defceQded ; che which Title chey gave to ali che Con- querours of Peru, from che firíl:, who enrred wich Francifco Pir¡arro, to chofe who carne irr with Almagro, ahd afterwards with Don Pedro de A/varado, a!l whom chey adored far Gods; che which Eíl:eem and Veneracion for chem concinued umiíl che Covet0ufneís, Luxury, Cruelcy and Severicy, wich which in a barbaroús imanner rrtany of them treaced che poor Indians, difcovered che falíicy of chis vain Opinion, and opened their Eyes; giving them to underíl:and, that fuch as were íó different in their Morals, and in ali cheir Aél:ions to their ancientlncM-, could noc be defcended from che Sun, and confequently could not merit che Ticle of Inca ; howfoever they continued the Name of Viracocha, for the fimilitude rhey had in their Habit, and Beard to che Phancafine, or Apparition. Thus did che Indian.r judge of chofe Spaniards who were cruel i and ill natllred to rhem , call!ng thern C11pay, which is che Name chey give to the De'{il; bue on ~he concrary, fuch as \vere gencle, kind and compaffionace towards chem, chey not onely confirmea their forrner Titles which they had given them, bue added chereunco fuch ocher cómpellations as they attribuced ro cheir Kings, as Tntipchurin, Child of che Sun, Hanc-'Chacuif-y , a Lover ofthe poor; and when chey would higher exalt the Good- nefs and Vercue of chofe Spaniards, who creaced rhem kindly, they c<rlled them tbe Sons of God, which when chey would exprefs in Spanifh, for the Name of God, which is Dios, th~y would pronounce ir Tim, becaufe rhe Leccer D. is not in tbe Jndian Language.
