T HE Governoilr, Don Francifco Pi farro, not regarding the fears and apprehen~ fions of Atahualpa, was elated in his Hopes and Expeétations, by thofe fa- vours which good fortune had caíl: upon him; and refolving to follow and im- prove his fuccefs, he judged it convenient and neceífary to tender an account ro His Majeíly of all marters, which unto that time·had occurred in Pcr11; the which Intention being moved to Almagro, his Cornpanion, and his Brothers, ic was ~greed by them to difpatch Hcrnando Pifar!o into. Spain,. with Advices to His ~a­ Jeíly of what had happened, rhat fo their Services rn1ght be rewarded accordmg to their Merit. And in regard Hernando Pi farro was employed as a publick Per- fon in behalfof the Commonalty, or the wliole Company, lt was ordered that fo rnuch íhould be taken out of the heaps which were already colleéted for tfoe Ran- fome of Atah11a!pa, as would ferve to defray his Charges; and moreover that he íhould carry with him the value of two hundred thoufand Pieces of Eight in Gold, and one hundred tbouf<!rid in Silver, for that fi.fth part which appertained to the King, on account of che Ranforne of Atahua!pa; the wnich Gold and Silver were as the fuíl: Fruits, andas an earnefl: of that Treafure and Riches which they have already, and are yet to carry from my Couotrey to His Majeíly.
