The Army being raifed, was commanded by four Maior Generals under bis Son, the Prince Tupanqui, for he having been exe_rdfed for fome years under the Inftru&ions and Example of that famous Commander his Un~le, was now be- corne fo goocl a Proficient in War, rhat he was capable ro conduét and lead an Army on the mofr difficult and hazardous Defign. And for Yupapqui, Brother ta the Inca, and whom he juíl:ly called bis Right-hand, he deftred to íl:ay, and kee¡> company with him, that fo he might refr, and cake repofe after bis many aoa gteat labours; in reward of which, and for his Royal Vermes, he beíl:owed upon him the Name and Title of his Lieutenant General, and focond P.erfon in ali manters and caufes relating to War and J?eace, with abfolute Power and Com... mand in all pares of bis Empire. The Army beíng in a readinefs, the Pfince marched with aDetachment of abour! 'ten choufandMen by way of theMountain, uncill-he carne to che Province of Ta11yu~ which lies c;iveragainfr che City of1the Kings, or Kirigs-town, where he made fome , ftay, untill the reíl: of his Army was come up to hirn; with which being joined, he rnarched to RimAc, where the prating Oracle had ics Temple. To this Prince Tup4nqui the Jndi11111 attribute the honour of being che firíl: who rnade Difcovery Qf the South-Sea, and fubdued many ProviQ.ces in thofe parts, as will appear more a,t large ín the H.iílory ofhis Life. · The Prince being in thofe pares, was mer by the Curaca- of Pachacamac, cailecl Cuyfmancu, and of Ru1Jah1ta?1ac, named Chuquimancu, wh0 wich th€ir Souldiers receivecl him with much Honour, aod with intention ca ferve him in the W ar:, and che Prince on the otber fide gratified them with de- mqnftrations of h.is ufual Favours and .J3oumy.
