Tbe Inca Pachacutec vi/ús Je?;eral part$ of his Empire, and conquers the Nation of Huanca. • j T HE Inca Viracocha being dead, Pachacntec, hls legitimate Son and Heir, fue~ ceeded in the Empire, and having folemnly performed the funexal Rites of his Father, he refided for three. Y ears at his Court, attending to the due admiqi- íl:ration of his Government. Afterwards he took a progrefs into all parts of his Dominions, paffing orderly from one Province to another j and though the pre- fence of the Inca might 0,ern of no moment, in regaFd the Lords, and Governours were fo diligem, and faithfull to their truft, that the Inca, in all the way he travel- led, received no complaints from the people of Aggrievances and Opprefiions, laid illegally on them·by their Rulers j for the frequeoc appearance of the Inca at certain times, <lid fo overawe the Minifters, that they were fearfull to aét any thiog which was not permitted to tbem by Law or Equity. Moreover the ap- pea(an~e of rh~ Inca per onally before his Subjefü, gave them the opportunity t~ prefer theí~ Petition , añd offer their Complaints by way of immediate Addrefs, which was rnuch more beneficia! to the Subjeéts, tban to have their Aggrievances made known by a thi rd hand, which by favour or friendfhip might difguife the- laments, and make Injuíhces appear lefs than they were, to the prejudice of tbe Plaimiffi; and herein 1uch care was t aken, that •never any people, wbo liv~d by· tbe mere Light of Nature, and I.aw of Reafon, díd ever fu~pafs the equitable proceed· gs ,of chie Jnc11s j -whic h init lifferency, and unbiaffed judgment, gained' them thadove of their people, that even t0 this day, and to many future Ages; will chexr >Memory be ¡:,,veet and pretious.
